Affordable & Reduced Fee Therapy in Los Angeles
Good therapy should be more accessible.
That’s why we’ve built reduced fee care into our practice. Twenty percent of our caseload is reserved for reduced fee therapy, with access to therapists across licensure levels, specialties, and experience.
Highland Park Reduced fee therapy
At Kindman & Co., we believe cost shouldn’t automatically put meaningful, relational therapy out of reach.
Needing a more affordable fee shouldn’t mean having fewer choices about your care. Our reduced fee program gives you access to therapists across different specialties, licensure levels, and years of experience, with additional lower-cost options available through our graduate training program.

Reduced Fee Therapy Without Reduced Care.
Affordability can make finding a therapist complicated. You might find someone who seems like a great fit, only to realize their fee isn’t sustainable. Or you may find a lower-cost option but wonder whether you’ll have to compromise on the kind of therapy or relationship you’re looking for.
We don’t believe reduced fee should mean reduced investment in your care.
At Kindman & Co., reduced fee therapy isn’t something we reserve only for interns or newer clinicians. Every therapist on our team offers reduced fee spots, giving you access to therapists across different specialties and years of experience.
And we’ve structured our program so that our clinicians are compensated consistently for their clinical work regardless of the fee their client pays. Making therapy more accessible shouldn’t require therapists to make their own work less sustainable, or make reduced fee clients feel like they’re receiving a different tier of care.
For us, supporting client access and clinician sustainability are both part of building a therapy practice that can show up for our community for the long haul.

Affordable therapy with our graduate interns
Lower fees can also be a really good way to begin therapy.
Our graduate interns offer some of our most affordable therapy options while completing advanced clinical training under the supervision of our most-experienced Kindman & Co. clinicians.
And they’re not doing this work alone. Interns receive ongoing supervision, training, and support while learning our relational, trauma-informed, identity-affirming approach to therapy.
We reserve 40% of our graduate interns’ caseloads for reduced fee spots.
Graduate intern full fees:
Individual therapy: $80 for a 50-minute session
Couples & relationship therapy: $95 for a 60-minute session
Additional reduced fee spots: $50-$60, available on a limited basis
For many people looking for compassionate, affordable therapy in Los Angeles, working with a Kindman & Co. graduate intern can make consistent therapy financially possible without giving up the support of an established group practice.
Therapy can happen in community, too.
Individual and relationship therapy aren’t the only ways to access meaningful support. Part of our commitment to offering therapy groups is that they can provide a more affordable way to participate in therapy while also creating something we deeply value: community, connection, and relationships with people who really get it.
Our groups bring people together around shared experiences, identities, and life circumstances. Depending on the group, that might mean connecting around grief, chronic illness, caregiving, gender, cultural identity, or the complicated experience of figuring out adulthood alongside other people doing the same.
For a relational practice, this matters. Healing doesn’t only happen one-on-one with a therapist. Sometimes being witnessed, understood, challenged, and cared for by other people can become an important part of the work, too.

Therapy in Highland Park that makes room for more of you.
Lower-cost therapy doesn’t have to mean one-size-fits-all therapy.
Our work is grounded in relational therapy, which means we’re interested in you as a whole person and in the relationships, identities, histories, communities, and systems that have shaped your experience.
Depending on who you work with, therapy might include support around anxiety, relationships, trauma, grief, identity, life transitions, family dynamics, neurodivergence, chronic illness, LGBTQIA2S+ experiences, or simply figuring out what you want your life and relationships to look like.
You don’t need to know exactly what kind of therapy you need before reaching out. That’s part of what our match process is for.

Common Questions About Affordable & Reduced Fee Therapy
-
We call our program reduced fee therapy rather than sliding scale therapy. Our standard fees are the same for everyone (based on your therapist’s experience level), but if you’re seeking a reduced fee, we use a consistent income-based assessment to help determine a fee that is fair and sustainable.
The same reduced fee assessment structure is available across all of our therapists, though the fee range may change based on therapist licensure level or experience.
We intentionally reserve 20% of our practice-wide caseload for lower-cost therapy as part of our commitment to making relational therapy more financially accessible.
-
Reduced fee availability varies by clinician and current openings. Our Care Coordinator can talk with you about what feels sustainable and which therapists currently have reduced fee space.
Our graduate interns provide an additional affordable option, with full fees of $80 for 50-minute individual therapy and $95 for 60-minute couples or relationship therapy, plus a limited number of additional reduced fee openings.

No. The fee you pay doesn’t determine the quality or importance of your care.
Reduced fee clients receive the same thoughtful, relational care as our full-fee clients. Our reduced fee program is intentionally structured so that your therapist's compensation and investment in your care don't change because you're paying a reduced fee.
If you work with a graduate intern, they are still completing their clinical training and receive ongoing supervision and support from experienced Kindman & Co. clinicians.
-
Yes. Reduced fee spots are available for couples and relationship therapy, subject to current availability.
Our graduate interns also offer a particularly affordable option for couples, with a full fee of $95 for a 60-minute session and additional reduced fee spots available within their reserved reduced-fee caseloads.
We welcome couples and partners across relationship structures, including LGBTQIA2S+ couples and people practicing consensual non-monogamy or polyamory.
-
No. A reduced fee isn’t an introductory rate or short-term discount. We want the fee you agree to to make ongoing, consistent therapy financially sustainable.
Occasionally your fee may be revisited if your financial circumstances change significantly or if the practice’s fees change, but you won’t need to race against a deadline to “finish” therapy before your reduced fee expires.
-
Yes, with some limitations based on current availability. Because every therapist at Kindman & Co. reserves space for reduced fee clients, needing a lower fee doesn’t automatically limit you to an intern or newer clinician.
During your complimentary match call, we’ll consider your fee alongside the things that matter for a good therapeutic fit, including personality, specialty, lived understanding, identity, availability, and the kind of support you’re looking for.
If your first-choice therapist doesn’t currently have reduced fee space, we’ll talk with you about other options who may be a good fit.
-
Kindman & Co. is an out-of-network practice, which means we don’t bill insurance directly. Depending on your plan, you may be eligible for reimbursement for a portion of your therapy costs, and we can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance company.

Please note that we can’t guarantee your out of network coverage or approval of your reimbursement claim and that therapy with graduate student interns may be less likely to be approved for out of network reimbursement. -
