Kindman & Co. is the group psychotherapy practice of Kaitlin & Paul Kindman. Located in Echo Park, we provide healing support for individuals, relationships, and families on L.A.’s Eastside.
We are feminist therapists who model our own transparency & vulnerability. We stand up for social justice and work to combat inequality and isolation. We are LGBTQ+ affirming therapists welcoming of clients with creative relationship structures and experiences, as well as blended families and families-of-choice.
Human beings are social creatures. We need connection and the support of others to thrive. Distress gets a bad rep; often seen as an indicator of something wrong with us individually and that it’s on us to fix our “broken” parts. We disagree. There is nothing wrong with you. We see your sadness, worry, and loneliness as vital feedback about challenges you’re encountering in your environment and relationships. We will help you better understand the significance of your distress and build tools to get the support and connection that we all need as humans.

how we do it
We believe that meaningful connection is at the heart of our well-being. We cultivate empathic relationships with our clients where both parties are impacted and learn from one another. We help our clients to improve the quality of their connections by increasing the intimacy in their relationships, encouraging curiosity, promoting vulnerability and emotional risk-taking, and advocating for their relational needs.
Traumatic experiences impact all of us. Any event that overwhelms our capacity to cope can be stored in our bodies as a trauma response. Often participating in a nonjudgmental, empathic relationship that moves at your pace, is healing in and of itself. We will also work together to help you build compassion for your experience, understand your triggers, develop techniques to manage challenging moments, and find healing through resilience.

We use a values-forward style that curiously explores your environment and context and considers how issues of social justice and (in)equity may be contributing to your distress.
