queer-affirming therapy for grief, identity, and body trust

Elizabeth Taylor, AMFT no. 132575 – Relational psychotherapist at Kindman & Co. specializing in neurodivergence, eating disorders, and LGBTQIA+ identity-affirming therapy in Los Angeles

hello,

I believe in honoring your whole self—messy and magical, shaped by rich histories and beautiful idiosyncrasies—and meeting you with compassion, warmth, & care.

I help people who feel defined by their trauma or conditioned patterns find freedom, healing, and a renewed sense of safety within themselves.

About Elizabeth (she/her)

Associate Psychotherapist

I believe that healing doesn’t happen in isolation—it happens in connection, in chosen family, in community, and in relationships that hold us when the world doesn’t.

Sometimes healing feels heavy, but other times it looks like a laugh you didn’t know you needed, a moment of quiet joy, or even silliness and play that remind you of your aliveness. I’m committed to creating spaces where all of these parts are welcomed and where you can feel safe, seen, and honored.

queer therapist in Highland Park, los angeles

As a queer person myself, I feel deeply connected to supporting other members of the queer community to weave together all of the many facets of your identity and heal from the harms of marginalization.

If you’ve ever felt othered or unseen by the world around you, I want therapy with me to be a place where you can untangle harmful messages, build self-trust, and step more fully into authenticity. I support people healing from long-term trauma, including complex family dynamics and experiences of gender-based or sexual violence, meeting you with consistency, helping you build safety, and moving at a pace that feels right for you.

I’m also passionate about supporting couples and partners in showing up more authentically in their relationships—especially when navigating identity or cultural differences. I feel particularly connected to working with queer partnerships, helping partners deepen intimacy, manage challenges, and celebrate the unique beauty of their connection.

I’m equally excited to work with neurodivergent individuals who may have felt misunderstood in a world that often pathologizes difference. I know firsthand what this feels like and want to remind you: there’s nothing wrong with you! Together, we’ll embrace your neurodiversity, celebrate the unique perspective you offer, and reconnect with your strengths, confidence, and compassion for yourself.

My purpose as a therapist is to hold space for you exactly as you are. I want you to feel safe being honest, vulnerable, and real. Whether you’re unpacking old wounds, navigating trauma shaped by family or systems, or figuring out how to live more authentically, I see therapy as a space of deep connection. Healing might look like finding your voice again, coming back to parts of yourself you’ve had to push aside, or simply being witnessed in your complexity.

Ways I can support you include:

  • grief and loss in its many forms, including death, identity shifts, and life transitions

  • depression, anxiety, and feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or disconnected

  • exploring queer identity and building self-trust as a queer person

  • navigating identity as a bipoc individual within systems of oppression

  • relationship challenges, intimacy, and connection in partnerships

  • body image concerns, disordered eating, and cultivating self-compassion

  • reconnecting with your sense of self, worth, and belonging

therapy for identity, grief, and emotional wellbeing in los angeles

I support people living with depression and anxiety, especially when life feels stuck, overwhelming, or lonely. Together, through a steady and attuned relationship, we can explore what lies beneath the surface and create room for relief, connection, and new possibilities.

I feel especially connected to supporting BIPOC clients as you navigate the layered intersections of culture, identity, and systemic oppression. I also work with individuals and partners moving through grief and loss—not only through death, but also in the quieter endings of friendships, partnerships, or former versions of self.

In all of my work, I strive to create spaces that are safe, inclusive, and grounded in care. I’m not here to change who you are—I’m here to help you embrace the fullness of who you’ve always been, and to reclaim your right to take up space in the world, unapologetically.

Elizabeth Taylor, AMFT, queer therapist specializing in cultivating body trust and body image issues in Highland Park, L.A.

therapy for body image, body trust, and self-compassion

For those struggling with body image or disordered eating, I offer a space to gently challenge the internalized beliefs and societal pressures that can feel so heavy and all-consuming.

Together, we’ll explore the roots of these messages and begin to loosen their hold, making more room for kindness, self-compassion, and freedom.

My hope is to support you in cultivating body trust and reconnecting with your inherent worth, outside of appearance or external expectations.

In our work, we’ll focus on building a more supportive and sustainable relationship with food, your body, and self. A relationship that allows you to feel more grounded, at ease, and free to live more fully in the body you have today.

I look forward to helping you discover more freedom in your relationship with your body and food, and to the work we’ll do together.

Elizabeth offers therapy to clients throughout Northeast Los Angeles—including Highland Park, Eagle Rock, Glassell Park, and nearby neighborhoods like Pasadena, Los Feliz, and Silver Lake—supporting queer clients in navigating grief, identity, and building body trust.

career highlights & key trainings

i am…

I am familiar with the depths trauma can take us, and I carry that understanding into the way I hold space for others.

I am a sister, a daughter, a mother (of a cat), a friend, and a caretaker, sometimes to a fault. I am a deep thinker, always turning things over, always reaching for meaning. I am queer and neurodivergent, and I believe deeply in justice, equity, and advocacy.

I know that healing doesn't happen in isolation; it happens in relationships, in community, in chosen families that hold us when the world doesn't.

I'm committed to creating spaces that are safe, inclusive, and grounded in care. I believe healing doesn't always look heavy; sometimes it shows up in moments of laughter, play, or quiet joy. I'm someone who embraces silliness because I know how much the world can weigh on us. I love adventure. I love my cat. I love a craft. I love a game. I love people, and I also love the peace that comes from being alone.

In my spare time, you can find me in a park or exploring unfamiliar parts of the city with friends, mermaiding, hiking, getting arguably too invested in board games, or honing a new craft.
