Trans, Nonbinary & Gender Expansive Group Therapy in Los Angeles

Beyond the Binary

A therapy group for trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive folks to feel affirmed, connected, and more fully yourself

A space to feel seen, affirmed, and connected.

This group is a supportive, therapist-led space for transgender, nonbinary, gender-expansive, and questioning individuals who are seeking a deeper connection to yourself and your community. Rooted in compassion and mutual understanding, we gather together to explore identity, process difficult emotions, find empowerment and affirmation, and build resilience in a world that too often feels invalidating, traumatizing, or unsafe.

This is a group for gender-expansive folks seeking more than survival—who are ready to thrive in your truth, connect with others who get it, and rediscover the joy of being seen. Whether you’re navigating dysphoria, questioning your gender, healing from transphobia, or feeling the general ache of disconnection, you don’t have to do it alone.

You Don’t Have to Explain Yourself Here

This group is designed as a space where trans, nonbinary, genderqueer, and gender-expansive people don’t have to justify, define, or educate in order to belong. Your identity is assumed and respected — whether you’ve known it forever, are still figuring it out, or experience it as something fluid and evolving.

You’re welcome to show up exactly as you are. You won’t be asked to have the right language, a clear narrative, or a polished explanation of your experience. What matters here is that you have a place to speak honestly, be met with care, and connect with others who understand the world you’re navigating. This is a space built around affirmation, curiosity, and shared humanity — not correction or comparison.

When You’re With Others Who Get It

Being in a room with people who share similar experiences can bring an immediate sense of relief. In this group, many people notice what it feels like to speak without having to translate themselves, to be understood without explanation, and to be met with recognition instead of curiosity or doubt.

Over time, group members often describe feeling less isolated and more grounded in themselves. Hearing others name experiences you’ve held privately can be validating and steadying, and sharing your own story — at your own pace — can help build confidence, clarity, and connection. The group holds space for complexity: joy and grief, certainty and questioning, humor and tenderness.

You don’t have to have it all figured out to belong here.

This Group Might Be Supportive If…

  • You’re feeling the impact of living in a world that often feels unsafe or unwelcoming for trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive people

  • You’ve learned to shrink, edit, or hide parts of yourself in order to move through daily life — whether at work, in school, in public spaces, or even in your own home.

  • You’ve been misgendered, dismissed, or misunderstood — sometimes by strangers, sometimes by people you hoped would see you clearly

  • You’re questioning your gender, navigating dysphoria, or exploring what authenticity means for you right now

  • You’re longing for a space where your identity isn’t debated or questioned, but simply respected

  • You’ve been feeling disconnected — from community, from others, or from yourself — and you’re seeking a space where you can begin to reconnect, rebuild, and reclaim your voice.

  • You’re navigating gender dysphoria, questioning your identity, or struggling to embrace your most authentic self — and you want support, solidarity, and healing from those who get it without you having to spell it out.

You don’t need to be in crisis or have your identity fully figured out to belong here.

If you’re seeking connection, affirmation, and support alongside other trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive folks, this group offers a place to feel more grounded, understood, and less alone.

What It’s Like to Be in Group

Beyond the Binary is a therapist-led space where conversation, reflection, and connection happen at a human pace. Each session centers on what’s alive for people in the room — thoughts, feelings, questions, and experiences you may not have many places to bring. You’re invited to share as much or as little as feels right for you, and there’s no pressure to perform, educate, or have everything figured out or fully-formed.

Over time, many people find that being in this therapy group helps them feel more grounded, more confident in their identity, and more connected to others. Listening to and learning from one another can bring perspective, validation, and relief — especially in moments when the outside world feels invalidating, isolating, or harmful. Expect a mix of depth and lightness: honest conversation, moments of tenderness, shared laughter, and the steady presence of others who understand.

Our aim is to offer a supportive space where you can show up fully and be met with care.

A Few Things That Might Be Helpful to Know

You don’t need to be outgoing, confident, or comfortable in groups to benefit from this space. Many people arrive feeling unsure or nervous — especially if group therapy is new — and that’s completely okay. You’re never required to share more than you want to, and listening can be just as meaningful as speaking.

Group support can be especially powerful for trans, nonbinary, and gender-expansive folks because it offers something individual spaces often can’t: shared understanding and built-in community. Being with others who recognize your experience without explanation can reduce isolation, increase self-trust, and help you feel more empowered over time. This group isn’t about changing you — it’s about creating a supportive environment where connection and growth can happen naturally.

You Don’t Have to Decide Anything Right Now

You don’t need to be sure, ready, or perfectly articulated to take the next step. Many people come to a discovery call feeling nervous, curious, or unsure — and that’s okay. The call is simply a chance to ask questions, get a feel for the group, and decide whether this space feels right for you.

If you’re longing for connection, affirmation, and a place where you don’t have to explain yourself, you’re welcome to explore Beyond the Binary at your own pace. We’re here to help you decide what support will feel most aligned for you right now.
