LGBTQ+ Couples Therapy in Highland Park, Los Angeles

Affirming relationship therapy for queer, trans, nonbinary, gay, lesbian, bisexual, polyamorous, and expansive partnerships.

Finding an LGBTQ couples therapist who truly understands queer relationships shouldn't be this hard.

Too often, couples therapy means educating your therapist about your identities, explaining the realities of queer relationships, or trying to make traditional relationship advice fit a relationship that was never designed to fit heteronormative expectations.

That's exhausting, and it's not what support should feel like.

At Kindman & Company, we provide LGBTQ+ couples therapy in Los Angeles for queer, trans, nonbinary, gay, lesbian, bisexual, polyamorous, CNM, and expansive partnerships.

You deserve a therapist who already understands the context of your relationship so you can focus on what actually brings you to therapy.

Whether you're:

  • stuck in the same arguments and communication patterns

  • rebuilding trust after hurt, betrayal, or rupture

  • navigating a gender transition, coming out, or identity shifts within your relationship

  • exploring polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, or relationship agreements

  • struggling with intimacy, sex, or emotional connection

  • carrying the impact of family rejection, minority stress, or systemic oppression

  • or simply wanting a relationship that feels more connected, secure, and fulfilling

We're here to help.

We're a queer and trans-affirming therapy practice in Highland Park, Los Angeles (90042). If you've been searching for LGBTQ+ couples therapy in Los Angeles or a queer couples therapist who understands the realities of LGBTQ+ relationships, you're in the right place.

Our queer-affirming couples therapists understand the ways that minority stress, family dynamics, identity exploration, and systemic oppression can shape relationships.

We hold space for the full complexity of your partnership with care, respect, and real understanding.

Our therapists show up as real humans with their own complex identities, lived experiences, and a shared belief that relationships deserve support, not judgment.

We're here to help you build deeper connection, stronger communication, greater authenticity, and a relationship that feels secure, resilient, and deeply fulfilling.

A free 15-minute call to help you find the right therapist for your partnership. No pressure, no commitment.

LGBTQ+ relationship Therapy That Understands the Full Context of Your partnership

Queer relationships don't exist in a vacuum. Family dynamics, identity exploration, minority stress, community expectations, religious experiences, and systemic oppression can all shape how partners connect, communicate, and navigate challenges together.

That's why LGBTQ+ couples therapy isn't just about resolving conflict. It's about understanding the larger context your relationship exists within and building a partnership that feels secure, connected, and sustainable over time. We’re here to help you stay in it together for the long haul.

Whether you've been together for six months or sixteen years, therapy can help you move through challenges with greater understanding, compassion, and intention.

We help queer couples navigate:

  • Communication breakdowns and recurring arguments

  • Rebuilding trust after hurt, betrayal, or rupture

  • Feeling disconnected, stuck, or lonely within your relationship

  • Intimacy, sex, and emotional connection

  • Gender transitions and identity changes within relationships

  • Polyamory, ethical non-monogamy, and relationship agreements

  • Interracial and intercultural differences

  • Family rejection, cultural pressures, and minority stress

  • Different needs around visibility, coming out, or community

  • Life transitions, commitment decisions, and future planning

  • Generally deepening intimacy and cultivating more enjoyment and relationship security

Our goal isn't to make your relationship look a certain way. It's to help you create a relationship that feels aligned, authentic, deeply supportive, and designed around what works for you.

Whatever you're navigating, you don't have to figure it out alone.

We'll help you move toward a relationship that feels more connected, secure, and fulfilling.

What Makes LGBTQ+ Couples Therapy Here Different

Many couples come to therapy hoping to communicate better, stop having the same arguments, or feel more connected again.

While those goals matter, we also pay attention to the patterns underneath them: what happens when conflict arises, how each partner seeks closeness and safety, and what gets in the way of feeling truly seen, understood, and connected.

Our goal isn't to help you win arguments or communicate more perfectly. It's to help you build a relationship that feels safer, more honest, and more fulfilling for everyone in it. That's why our work goes beyond communication techniques or conflict resolution strategies alone.

Our approach to LGBTQ+ relationship therapy

Our work with LGBTQ+ couples, partners, and expansive relationships is informed by the Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy® (PACT), a research-informed model that integrates attachment theory, neuroscience, and relationship science.

Rather than only talking about problems, we'll help you recognize relationship patterns & nervous system activation in real time and practice new ways of responding to one another with greater awareness, compassion, and connection.

Over time, many couples find that this work helps them strengthen trust, navigate conflict more effectively, and build a more secure and resilient partnership.

What to Expect From starting queer Couples Therapy at Kindman & co.

Finding an LGBTQ+ couples therapist who truly understands queer relationships shouldn't feel like extra work. We know how exhausting it is to “interview” therapists, only to realize they don’t truly understand your lived experience or the dynamics of your partnership. Our process is designed to protect your energy and help you find the right fit from the start.

1. A free match call

Start with a free 15–20 minute call with our Care Coordinator, Clarissa. She understands the nuances of queer and trans-affirming care and will help connect you with a relationship therapist who truly fits.

This is a no-pressure conversation to see if our practice feels right for you. If it does, we’ll guide you to the next step. If not, that’s completely okay too.

2. Intentional pairing

We don’t just match you based on availability. We thoughtfully pair you with a therapist whose personality, relational style, and lived understanding of LGBTQIA2S+ identities align with yours.

You don’t have to carry the burden of finding the right fit on your own.

If it doesn’t feel like the right fit after your first session, we’ll support you in finding a better match within our practice, so you don’t have to start your search all over again.

3. Your first session

Because we’ve done the work of matching, you don’t have to start with “Identity 101.” You won't need to explain the basics of your identities, your relationship structure, or why traditional relationship advice hasn't always fit your lives.

You can arrive as you are, ready to focus on your healing at your own pace.

You deserve care that actually fits.

We know what it’s like to walk into a therapy space and feel like you have to shrink, explain, or perform. That’s not what we’re here for.

We work with:

  • LGBTQ+ couples seeking deeper connection and stronger communication

  • Queer, trans, and nonbinary partners navigating identity exploration and transition within relationships

  • Polyamorous, CNM, and expansive relationship structures

  • Interracial, intercultural, and multi-faith partnerships

  • Couples rebuilding trust after hurt, betrayal, or rupture

  • Partners navigating intimacy, sex, and emotional connection

  • Relationships impacted by family rejection, minority stress, or religious trauma

  • Couples preparing for major life transitions, commitment decisions, or future planning

  • Partners who want support before challenges become crises

There's nothing wrong with your relationship for needing support.

Every relationship encounters challenges, and queer relationships often carry additional pressures that many therapists overlook. You don't have to navigate them alone.
