Group Description
Suffering from anxiety or depression can interfere with so much in our lives, such as interpersonal relationships, creativity, work, productivity, and basic daily functioning. We may often feel shame and guilt due to stigma, judgment and ignorance of others. The intention of this group is to assist you in improving your overall wellbeing. It is to provide a safe and comfortable space to process and express thoughts and feelings with support of others with like minds and similar challenges. The group will guide you to increased insight, techniques and coping skills.  You will also learn how external factors affect us and how we can change our thoughts and approach to these stressors. By the end of the 10-week group you will have gained skills and knowledge that will ease or eliminate your symptoms, improve relationships with self and others, and find more life satisfaction.

Who Can Benefit
Like individual therapy, group therapy can benefit almost anyone. Members have the opportunity to discover how they think, why they react the way they do, and understand how they are perceived by others in the group. Members talk about what goes on in their lives outside the group, but also focus in a concentrated way as to what happens between members in the here-and-now of the group’s life, providing each other feedback and learning through witnessing and resonating with each other. Our hope is that group members find healing and an increased ability to make conscious choices that impact how they feel in the moment. The group is often used as a “laboratory” where group members both learn about themselves and take interpersonal risks in the service of living their lives more authentically, more honestly, and more fully emotionally engaged.

About Group Psychotherapy
Group psychotherapy is a special form of therapy in which a small number of people meet together under the guidance of a professionally trained therapist to help themselves and one another. Each of us has been raised in groupenvironments-our families, schools, organized activities, or work-where we grow and develop as human beings. Group psychotherapy is no different. It provides a place where you come together with others to share problems or concerns, to better understand your own situation, and to learn from and with each other. Group therapy helps people improve their interpersonal relationships. It addresses feelings of isolation, aloneness, depression and/or anxiety, and helps people make significant changes to improve the quality of their lives.  Self-awareness gained in weekly group therapy helps pave the way for you to have more satisfying relationships, be more comfortable with yourself, with your feelings, with others, and in the other groups in which we each participate every day.
